The Blue Roost Petite Cafe is Open for Business !!!

Checking in with… The Blue Roost Petite Cafe in Prospect Lefferts Gardens

Recently, we caught up with our friends Linda Billings and William “Billy” Clark to check out their progress in the transformation of the newly acquired Prospect Park location at 539 Flatbush, into the future site of The Blue Roost Petite Cafe (formerly known as the Homesick Cafe, more on that later).

539 Flatbush Avenue Leased!

(It's the one on the right)

This morning I acted as witness to the lease signing for  539 Flatbush Avenue, just a short walk away from Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. The property is located right in the middle of the up-and-coming Brooklyn hot spot, a neighborhood that we paid a  visit not too long ago. The 300 square foot space was leased to Linda Billings and William “Billy” Clark, who plan to open The Homesick Cafe, specializing in “comfort food from all different cultures.” Sounds tasty… stay tuned for lots more details.

How to Fit a Bike Shop in a Mere 200 Square Foot Space

I recently took a trip into Brooklyn with Senior Retail Specialist Elliott Dweck to show  retail  space at 552 and 537 Flatbush Avenue, and we decided to visit Bike Life, a newly opened bicycle shop at 50 Lincoln Road leased by Besen Retail.  With an area of approximately 200 square feet, this is the kind of space that would be referred to as “cozy” by a real estate agent. That didn’t stop the owners from setting up a full fledged bike shop to service cyclists all over Prospect Park. It looks great, and they are off to a great start.  We wish them continued success. Father’s Day is this Sunday – go on in and get your old man a bike!

Brooklyn's On Fire.

I love spicy food. For me, the hotter the better. I enjoy eating things that make my mouth burn for the next three and a half hours. To some this may sound sickening, but I believe the chile pepper is king, which is why I can’t wait for Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s “Chile Pepper Fiesta.”  A full afternoon of hot music, dancing, and of course food, the event begins at noon on October 3rd and ends at 6:15 pm.
