Standing tall at 75 Orchard Street between Grand and Broome Streets, the 400-ish square foot space previously occupied by one of the coolest friggin’ designers out there, Kai D. As The Real Deal reported earlier this week, construction is well underway on the Lower East Side Girls Club. Located at 101 Avenue D, the LEED Gold-certified building, developed by the Dermot Company, boasts 78 affordable rental housing, 30,000 square feet of recreational space for the Girls Club members, as well as 4,700 square feet of prime retail space (which is where we come in).

Just when we thought that Michael Bao Huynh had opened every possible restaurant concept, he surprises us with the news that he is going to open an American-style bakery. According to Fork in the Road, Huynh is turning the closed Kebab House into a “high volume bakery.” While he has already collaborated with Pichet Ong to create Asian desserts, he wanted to try something new.

Grand Opening, the Lower East Side space that creates interactive stores and events, has a new concept for you to try. A dinner party! Faux-couple Vicki and Lysander are hosting dinner, and have invited you to wine and dine with them in their Lower East Side “apartment.” Every Thursday through Sunday during the month of March, participants can sign up to attend the party with a date or up to 12 friends.
