Heart Attack in a Sandwich

While this isn't 1834's 10 pound burger, I imagine it's similar.

Newly opened 1834 Burger in the Financial District not only offers 20 flat screen TVs and every sports game possible, but also a ten pound, $75 burger. The restaurant tweeted that they will hold an eating contest for those brave enough to take on the ten pounder. Diane DiMeo, the winner of the Food Network show Chopped created the meaty menu.

Downtown Dutch

Today marks the begining of NY400 Week, commemorating the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson’s arrival in the New York Harbor, as well as the friendship between New York and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Much of the celebration will take place in the Financial District, not far from space for lease 44 Trinity Place.

Take a trip down to New Amsterdam Village, on Broadway at Beaver Street. Here you can relax nearby tradtional Dutch houses, or learn about Dutch crafts, such as wooden shoes (and you thought stilettos were bad), Delft blue painting,  and glass blowing. For the uncrafty folks, sample traditional foods like cheese, beer, herring, and “dollar” pancakes.
