A $2,000 Trash Bag?!

Refinery 29 shared their view about Louis Vuitton’s latest design, and I couldn’t help but comment on it too. The newest addition to the LV purse line is the “Raindrop Besace,” aka a mini drawstring trashbag is selling for $1,960 in retail stores. I suppose what separates itself from the average spot to toss your garbage is the leather strap and the Louis Vuitton name, but that’s hardly worth the $2k.

Dress L.E.S

One of my favorite retail stores, J. Crew has created a few items paying tribute to New York neighborhood the Lower East Side. According to EV Grieve, Men can now sport the “Bowery Pants,” the “Ludlow Suit,” or the “Stanton Pants and Shorts.” Ready to look like an LES-er? Shop J. Crew in store or online.

Filene's Basement Doubles!

Bargain shoppers rejoice! The Filene’s Basement location on the Upper West Side is nearly doubling in size. The department store signed a lease for 22,700 SF at 2234 Broadway between 79th and 80th Streets. Taking over the old Circuit City space, Filene’s current property is on the same block, but with a Zales jewelers in between. The two spaces are expected to be connected on the second floor. Not only will the store double in size, but will also include a Syms Tailored & Tux men’s department, which is the first in New York. Going shopping? Stop by nearby space for lease 2626 Broadway, the old Metro Theater, which is perfect for a restaurant, nightclub, or clothing store.

Perfume Pop-up

Ferragamo jumped on the pop-up bandwagon with their very own perfume gallery, launching this weekend. Visitors will have the chance to preview their new scent Incanto Bloom, participate in a photo shoot, and snack on gourmet treats. The gallery not only displays the new scent, but also custom-made video art. If the art and snacks aren’t enough reason to go, check it out for the free samples AND the chance to win a Ferragamo Parfums Fashion Bloom Bag. The event only lasts this weekend, on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm at 201 Mulberry Street.

UPDATE: Cookie Beer!

I tasted the Cookie Jar Porter  from Brooklyn Brewery that I told you about. The brew was created by Garrett Oliver, who was inspired by the oatmeal cookies at Feed Your Soul bakery. It tasted cookie-like, but not overly sweet or strong. The ingredients include toasted oats, roasted malt, brown sugar, whole vanilla beer, and raisin puree. Visit Rattle ‘N’ Hum at 14 E 33rd Street to try a glass.
