Independent stores are by far the coolest place to shop in New York City for the newest trends. Luckily Time Out New York has done the work for us, by publishing a list of the best indie shops. I am proud to announce that two of the hottest Lower East Side indie shops are directly across from our space for lease, 75 Orchard Street.

The TriBeCa Greenmarket
Fresh blueberries, zucchini, peas, and peaches line the sidewalks of the TribeCa Greenmarket, giving you just one more reason to take a trip downtown. As summer comes to a close, now is the best time to escape to one of the 40 open-air farmer’s markets throughout the five boroughs of the city. The markets only sell the freshest in-season produce, so you won’t find Chilean apples or Chinese broccoli here. Many also carry goods from local bakeries, natural meat, and Long Island seafood.

The 163-year-old landmark building, which was once a Chelsea church, then a nightclub called Limelight, could be a shopping mall by Christmas. “The Limelight Marketplace” will home 80 different high-end shops and one restaurant. The residents of the neighborhood are happy to see the nightclub go, as it was often an epicenter for drugs and crime, but are skeptical about the new mall, considering that the mall is just a jumping off point for putting in another club.
